A few months ago I switched my phone service to Project Fi and my wife’s to Republic Wireless. We simply couldn’t get good cell service in our area unless it’s using Sprint towers. Luckily both Project Fi and Republic Wireless use Sprint.
So far, we’ve been very happy with Republic Wireless’s ability to use WiFi and cellular to save on costs. They’ve introduced refund plans, where they will pay you back for the data you don’t use. The refund plan made it possible for us to save money by switching.
That being said, our January payment to Republic Wireless was $16.29. That includes unlimited calling and texting, 512 MB of data, and a $3.29 credit for the data she didn’t use the month before.
If you’re looking for inexpensive phone service and you’re around WiFi most of the time, check out Republic Wireless. You will have to buy your phone (they’re working on a financing option), but they do have some affordable options available. There is no contract and you’ve got 30 days to try the service and get a full refund on the phone if it’s not for you.
If you’ve used Republic or have any questions, let me know if the comments.
